Runtime Errors Troubleshooting

Reader Question:
“Hi Wally, I am having problems with Runtime Errors and wondering how to fix it?” - Jesse F., USA

Before addressing any computer issue, I always recommend scanning and repairing any underlying problems affecting your PC health and performance:

  • Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (WinThruster for Win 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000 – Microsoft Gold Certified).
  • Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
  • Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.

Setting up weekly (or daily) automatic scans will help prevent system problems and keep your PC running fast and trouble-free.

Overview of Runtime Errors

A runtime error is a software problem that prevents software or a program (eg. game, word processor, a web browser) from working correctly. Runtime errors may be found in many of the common software programs that we use daily, such as Internet Explorer or Adobe Acrobat Reader.

A run-time error is detected after or during the execution of a program. Runtime errors usually occur when some incompatible software is being run, or the RAM (Random Access Memory) usage for the PC is too high. It can also be a result of a deadly virus.

If there is a runtime error, it indicates that the program or software has a bug in it that causes the error when compiled or executed. Unlike stop errors, Runtime errors do not cause the program to shut down but it might cause you to lose information.

What Problems are Associated with Runtime Errors?

The most common result of a runtime error is that the program will stop working. This is a major irritation for users because runtime errors cause the program to crash and may result in losing critical information or any other important unsaved data. Most users encounter runtime errors in this situation, making them a source of serious user frustration.

The most common solutions for the runtime errors are to update the software that has an error or ask for a patch from the software developer. Also, it advisable to make sure that the software is genuine.

If the problem is related to memory, make sure that you have at least the minimum amount of memory available of free while using the program. Upgrading the RAM can be a useful solution in some cases.

However, if the error occurs due to a computer virus, the best option is to install and keep updating your antivirus software.

Microsoft Windows has developed some solutions to software crashes and published on its official website. The other specific solutions can be found out on the official website of the particular software. The most common solution is just to keep the software up to date.

Is Your PC Healthy?

I always recommend to my readers to regularly use a trusted registry cleaner and optimizer such as WinThruster or CCleaner. Many problems that you encounter can be attributed to a corrupt and bloated registry.

Happy Computing! :)
