Windows XP Professional Troubleshooting

Reader Question:
“Hi Wally, I am having problems with Windows XP Professional and wondering how to fix it?” - Vanessa W., USA

Before addressing any computer issue, I always recommend scanning and repairing any underlying problems affecting your PC health and performance:

  • Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (WinThruster for Win 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000 – Microsoft Gold Certified).
  • Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
  • Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.

Setting up weekly (or daily) automatic scans will help prevent system problems and keep your PC running fast and trouble-free.

Overview of Windows XP Professional

Microsoft has come a long way in ensuring that it is always developing products that are in line with the needs of customers. Over time, Microsoft has continued to constantly release great new products for the Windows operating system.

Windows XP Professional is an incredible product that is part of Microsoft’s successful product list. Windows XP professional was actually designed for use by business users, this is because it has great compatibility capabilities with other business applications running on the Windows platform.

This is an operating system that was built by Microsoft to take care of business entities that needed a reliable operating system that was able to execute its tasks in an organized way.

It is good to note that Windows XP professional is a great operating system that runs well and can be deployed on several machines in an office network. It is also secure, reliable, and flexible as it allows easy integration with other 3rd party business applications.

Microsoft Windows XP professional also supports and runs the IIS server (internet information server) which is a great web server from Microsoft. In summary, Windows XP is basically a business-oriented operating system.

What Problems are Associated with Windows XP Professional?

Despite the popularity of Microsoft Windows XP, users can expect to encounter some problems when using this operating system. One of the common errors that Microsoft Windows XP professional users experience is ‘Access denied’. This is an error that many PC users encounter quite often. This error occurs when a PC user is denied certain privileges either to access or modify a file or a computer application.

In Windows XP professional, Access Denied errors are caused due to lack of administrator privileges and permissions, this means that the user who may be trying to access a certain service does not have permission to carry out that operation. It is therefore important to ensure that the system administrator gets to set the correct levels of access privileges depending on what information and services they want specific users to access.

Most users of Microsoft Windows XP have complained of instances when their individual computers fail to connect to a network. This problem can happen especially in offices that have a huge and well-established local area network. In such cases, an IP address conflict could be one of the major causes, more than one computer could be trying to access the network using the same IP address. This problem can be resolved by assigning static IP addresses to network computers.

Is Your PC Healthy?

I always recommend to my readers to regularly use a trusted registry cleaner and optimizer such as WinThruster or CCleaner. Many problems that you encounter can be attributed to a corrupt and bloated registry.

Happy Computing! :)
